He said the NYSC was apolitical, just like the saying of the president, it belongs to no one but belongs to everyone, stressing that the corps would continue to remain a neutral body.
“The NYSC, as far as election process is concerned, we belong to nobody, we belong to everybody, we are apolitical.
“NYSC is a neutral body in the election process and we have over the years in different elections, given great credibility to the Nigerian election process.
“We will continue to advise our corps members that would be participating in the elections to be neutral, to defend the name of their family, their names and most importantly the NYSC.
“I want the corps members to maintain the good name and credibility of the Corps, so Nigerians can have faith in the ability of NYSC participation in electoral process.
“We have confidence in our corps members but I will equally enjoined them and youths generally not to be used by politicians to cause havoc or any electoral violence.” he said
He equally send a note of warning to politicians in the state, stating that they should not come near the corps members to entice them and that they should als not intimidate them before, during and after electoral process.
He said any form of intimidation or harassment would not be taken lightly by the NYSC because the serving corp members were the children of the corps which they would do everything within their midst to protect.
Speaking on NYSC 45 years celebration, Attah said the state NYSC and corps members would carry out sensitisation walk, cleaning of motor parks and markets and rendering medical services free of charge to people in the rural communities.
