A frontline aspirant in the forthcoming gubernatorial election in Osun state, Dr. Abiodun Saka-Layonu SAN has condoled with the government and the people of Plateau State for the violent attacks in some communities in the State.
The Senior Advocate of Nigeria made this known on Tuesday while addressing newsmen in Osogbo. He described the recent attacks in Plateau state where innocent natives were murdered across three local governments in the State as a disastrous event development.
Dr Saka-Layonu who is aspiring under banner of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), however hailed the Muhammadu Buhari led federal government for what he described as a swift response to arrest the sad development.
He said President Buhari who expressed his shock upon receiving the sad news has since left no stone unturned in ending the menace, which includes the visit of the Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo’s to the scenes on Monday to get first hand information and meet victims and their families.
The Ede born politician said, “I am very sure that those responsible will soon be made to face the wrath of the law. Just yesterday, the Inspector-General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, has deployed an intervention force in Barkin-Ladi, and Riyom in Jos South Local Government Area to restore peace.”
“Coupled with that, two police helicopters have been deployed for aerial surveillance, five Armored Personnel Carriers, and three Police Mobile Force Units among other security measures while the Deputy Inspector-General of Police, Department of Operations, Joshiak Habila, has been directed to relocate to Jos immediately to coordinate and supervise the operation.”
Saka-Layonu urged Nigerians to embrace peace and shun hate speeches as well as circulation of falsehood.
