Osun Assembly Passes Law Regulating Sand, Dredging Operation

The Osun state house of assembly on Monday passed a bill regulating sand and dredging operation in the state.

The bill, ‘Osun State Regulation of Sand and Dredging Operation Bill 2018’ gets the nod of the parliamentarian after its third reading at the plenary of the house of assembly.
In his reaction shortly after the bill was passed, the Speaker, Dr. Najeem Salaam, observed that the bill has put in place a regulation frame work, which he stressed would facilitate due process in sand operation and restore sanity in the environment.
Aside that, he noted that the law would be of benefit to the state especially in the area of revenue generation, adding that stakeholders would also benefit id they follow the provisions of law.
Salaam hailed his colleagues for their contributions to the passage of the bill, enjoining their future supports in any attempt that would benefits the state and its people.
In a similar development, the lawmakers considered the Osun state Independent Electoral Commission Bill 2018, which was read at plenary for the first time.
However, after extensive deliberation by the lawmakers, the bill was committed to the joint House Committee on Judiciary and Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs for further legislative actions.
