Oluwo Gives Iwo Day Facelift As Akarigbo, Elegushi, Oloffa Honour Event

It was a fanfare at the ancient city of Iwo for the annual 2018 Iwo Day celebration held at Oluwo Elementary School, Iwo, Osun State.

Another galore to the annual event was the display of the two enthusiastic monarchs, Oluwo and Elegushi who both rode on horseback from the palace square to Oluwo Elementary School where the event took place.

The clustered crowd influenced by the admirers of the Commandant over deities, Oluwo of Iwoland, Oba (Dr.) Abdulrosheed Adewale Akanbi, were seen jostling for space to acknowledge themselves with the event.

Aside the Osun State Governor, Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola represented by Senator Mudashiru Hussein, noticeable traditional rulers in attendance were: The Akarigbo of Remo Kingdom, HRM Oba Babatunde Adewale Ajayi, Oloffa of Offa, HRM Oba Muftau Muhammad Oloyede, Elegushi of Ikateland, HRM Oba Saheed Ademola Elegushi among others. According to the three royal fathers, the day was there respective first visit to Iwo.

The super in history gathering of the sons, daughters, residents and notable invited guests was epoch, recording the highest turn out in history of the land. Primarily, the reason was said to have been the governance ideology of the digital Oluwo and secondarily the expectation of the 2019 general election.

Addressing journalists, Oluwo stated Iwo is gradually graduating from traditional oblivion, saying his coming as Oluwo will return the political, traditional, religious and social status of the ancient city.

He said Iwo deserve better in national and state cakes, beseeching stakeholders to cooperate with him in reviving the low ebb status he mete on ground.

Oluwo stated he has made a lot of efforts, yielding and still manifesting in the lives of his subjects.

He disclosed his leading programmes such as free feedings, clothing, scholarship, employments and empowerments are short term mechanisms to ameliorate his subjects’ plight, calling on wealthy individual to emulate his leadership template designed to benefit the less privileged.

To the adverse of the event was the political delinquency of parties supporters which nearly truncate the program midway.

Stalwarts of major political parties participating in the next year’s election rented the space, shouting encomium on their prefered candidate for public consideration and attention.

Political chieftains in attendance were : Dr. Akin Ogunbiyi of the Peoples Democratic Party, the Osun West Senatorial candidate of the All Progressives, Engineer Adelere Oriolowo, the ADP governorship candidate in the last September 22nd Osun State Gubernatorial , Alhaji Moshood Olalekan among others.
