In Osun: Ex-convict Jailed 2 Years Over Malicious Damage Of Tie Rod, Bottles Of Beer

A 33-year-old Ex-convict, Dada Olusegun  has been sentenced to two years imprisonment with hard Labour over malicious damages of tie rod, bottles of beer, plastics chair and tables in a beer parlour.

The convict was initially arraigned on December 12 before the Chief Magistrate Awodele Olubukola on a count charge bordering on malicious damage.

The convict who had no legal representation pleaded guilty to the one count charge and was remanded in Ilesha prison custody.

When the case was called for hearing on Tuesday, the prosecutor, Inspector Olayiwola Rasaq told the court  that the convict, on the 10th of December  2017 went to beg for drinks from customers drinking beer at a beer parlour in Idiomo, Oja Oba in Osogbo whereas the  Complainant who owns the beer parlour had warned him to stop begging for drinks at her shop.

Rasaq further explained that the convict fought the complainant and destroyed the property in her shop when he was restricted from begging customers to give him drinks as usual.

According to Inspector,  the following properties destroyed by the convict include; a shop tie rod 20,000, 12 bottles of beer valued 3,900, one plastic table  valued 10,000 and two plastics chairs valued 10,000 all valued 43,9000 and belonging to Adenike Adebayo, the Complainant.

Rasaq argued that the offense committed is contrary to and punishable under Section 451 of the Criminal Code Cap 34 Volume 11.Laws of Osun State of Nigeria 2003.

The prosecutor also tendered all the broken bottles chairs and table as exhibit before the Court.

The convict admitted to all what the prosecutor said, praying the court for forgiveness.

Handling down her judgment, Magistrate Awodele Olubukola convicted Olusegun on self admittance and sentenced him to two years imprisonment with hard Labour.
