I Will Create 200,000 Jobs In 12 Months, Says Osun PDP Guber Aspirant

A Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, governorship aspirant in Osun state, Professor Adeolu Durotoye, has said that he would create 200,000 jobs within 12 months when elected as the governor of Osun.

He also vowed to pay workers salary every 25th of the months.

Durotoye who is the provost of Social and Management Sciences at Afe Babalola University, made the promise while featuring on the “News Point” of the Correspondents’ Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Osogbo, on Friday.

He said that the present administration had failed abysmally especially in job creation and other related economic issues.

“The present administration had not been able to help the large numbers of unemployed youths by creating Jobs for them.”

”Creating 200,000 jobs is not a negotiation but a necessity which would target youths.”

He explained that arrangements have been concluded to fulfil the promise with “already concluded plan” to generate over N4 billion internally.

He promised that his administration would create 200,000 jobs in the first 12months by inviting investors and creating enabling environment for them.

Speaking on the zoning arrangement and agitation for Osun West to produce the next Governor, Durotoye maintained that intellect, exposure and manifesto should be considered in presenting candidate.

He noted that no Senatorial District has yet to produce Governor in the state, insisting that he was the best candidate to unseat the ruling party and take the state to the next level.

“With the present situation in Osun state, we need somebody with extra-ordinary capacity, who was locally bred and globally exposed.

“I am already discussing with investors both in Nigeria and all over the world. We have plan to create 200,000 in the first 12months. We will work with private investors to achieve this. Creating 200,000 jobs is not negotiable, it is necessity.

According to him, 5000 jobs would be created from each local governments areas in the state.

“If we can create enabling environment for investors, it will not be difficult to generate between N4 to N6billion and pay salary on the 25th of every month.

He assured that he would get the abandoned Steel Rolling Company run if elected Governor of the state in September.

The Professor of Political Science also promised to give agriculture utmost priority, saying “Osun state would be turned to the food basket of West Africa.

He said he would submit list of Commissioner nominee on November 28 after being sworn in as the Governor of the state come November 27, this year, promising that students would be exposed to entrepreneurship from primary school.

He said his plan to provide free vocational training for women and free annual medical checkup for the elderly would be achievable because of the ongoing talk with the Non Governmental Organisation, NGO, and other agency that would support the programmes.

” I believe when elected as governor of Osun, I Will make Osun great by consulting widely and letting no one behind.

” I will not run a government where the expedency of building roads would be a burden on the masses,” he said.

Speaking on the debt profile of the state, Durotoye stated that he could not give exact debt of the state, assuring that the debt would not be an excuse for his non-performance, irrespective of the debt.

Commending the leadership of the party for giving all the aspirants equal opportunity to contest, Durotoye said PDP is a political platform that had given aspirants a level playing field which he said he is proud to belong.

He,therefore, said he was confidence of winning the gubernatorial election and urged electorate not to sell their votes to the highest bidder, saying good governance is a necessity which must be carefully guided.
