Ogunbiyi Visits Baba Sala Family Ahead Of Ace Comedian’s Burial
Dr. Akin Ogunbiyi, a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party in Osun State on Sunday visited the family of Pa Moses Olaiya, fondly addressed as Baba Sala ahead of burial ceremony of the veteran comedian.
Ogunbiyi in according to a statement issued and signed his Press Secretary, Ismail Afolabi described the late dramatist and actor as a pillar of Nigeria movie industry and prayed for the family at Abiola Avenue in Ilesha area of the state.
“Baba was a very good man and would always be remembered for his great works and contributions to Nigeria development. Apart from petroleum and agriculture, the movie industry now contributes significantly to the Internally Generated Revenue.”
“Baba was instrumental to the growth of the industry. When I was growing up in Ile-Ogbo, just two persons had Television set(s) then. Whenever it’s time for baba’s show titled, “Awadakerikeri”, everyone would storm their houses to catch a glimpse of baba’s performance.”
“Baba was God’s gift to Nigeria. In art and culture, the lessons learnt through his plays are inestimable. He lives on in the mind of every soul he had saved and the lives he had touched.”
“Baba gave his all to humanity. With his deeds, he had written his name in good book of history, and discovered many talents. He deserves our reciprocal respect. I pray for repose of his soul and also pray that God will be with the family and continue to uphold you all.”
“Baba should be given a befitting burial. I hope that the cream of the society would come together to celebrate him. I am happy to know that icons such as king Sunny Ade are very much with the family and has been ensuring that everything is done well,” Ogunbiyi stated.
The PDP chief was received by Mrs Adejumo Funmilayo, baba sala’s wife and other members of the family. The family announced Dec. 6 and 7 as dates for the burial ceremony of the deceased icon.
