Former NBA Scribe Condemns Alleged Attack On Fayose, PDP Supporters
A former National Secretary General of the Nigeria Bar Association, NBA Mr Obafemi Adewale has described the police attack on peaceful rally of the people’s Democratic Party as the highest level of intolerance by the ruling party.
Mr Adewale also said it was the most unacceptable way to use the police who are suppose to protect the citizens, but turned against them.
Speaking with journalists in Ado Ekiti, he said apart from the fact that such attack offended section 182 of the constitution as regards the immunity of the Governor, it was a deliberate attempt to halt the liberty of the people.
The former NBA scribe it was obvious that the conduct of the ruling APC and their arbitrary use of state security apparatus as revealed in the Ekiti saga, confirmed that they are the number one enemy of the deepening of the nations democracy.
Mr Adewale argued that it was time for the National Assembly to fastback efforts to amending the constitution with a view to allowing state police system.
The legal practitioner called on Nigerians of good conscience and the international community to raise a voice against state violence being perpetrated by the ruling party in their attempt to rig the July 14th election, adding that anything untowards during the poll is a bad signal to the 2019 general elections
