Female Aspirant, Mercy Ayodele Wins Osun RPN Governorship Primary Election
A female aspirant, Mrs Mercy Ayodele has emerged as the candidate of the Restoration Party of Nigeria (RPN) for the Osun state governorship election scheduled to hold on September 22, 2018.
Ayodele, was the first aspirant to emerge as candidate, among other aspirants across political parties in the governorship election in Osun state
The election was observed by National officers of the party, led by the National Publicity Secretary, Mr Kinsley, officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), and scores of chairmen of other political parties in the state who came as observers.
Ayodele, in her remarks said her emergence has invariably changed political narrative in Nigeria and Osun in particular, in the face of level of disdain in which women in politics have been treated by their male counterparts.
She promised to bring human face to bear in governance, if giving opportunity to serve as governor of the state.
“It is the duty of the mother to take care of the home and see to the welfare of every family member, by complementing resources from the head of the family, which is the father, and implementing certain domestic obligations.
“In the same vein, I will passionately and responsively change the fortunes of Osun State through reliable internally generated revenue to complement monthly allocations.
“As a mother in government, the welfare of the people will be my top priority; also, women will be empowered and equipped to attain their utmost potentials, “she said.
The State Chairman of the party, Mr Tosin Odeyemi in his address said the party is redefining the tenets of internal democracy in Nigeria, with “peaceful and successful exercise that unite the party the more “.
He explained that internal democracy remains cornerstone to democratic advancement and good leadership.
Odeyemi opined that the party, despite being new in the Nigeria political space would spring a surprise in the forthcoming gubernatorial election in the state.
He enjoined electorate, especially youths to put a stop to trend of recycling members of political class in the corridor of power, calling for urgent shift in the political paradigm.
“We are indeed redefining the scope of democracy as it applies to party formation and governance.
“Being the first political party to successfully conduct primaries without rancour portray us as leading adherents of internal democracy and democratic governance .
“To us, it is a move to protect legacies left behind by Nigeria’s founding fathers for strong democratic system and speedy growth”, Odeyemi said.
