Mob Attacks Osun Traffic Officers for Dragging steering with Pregnant Woman on Motion

Two officers of the Osun Traffic Management (O’Tram) were today attacked by mob at Alekuwodo, Osogbo, Osun State capital.

One of the officers was accused of dragging steering with a pregnant woman who drove an Evil Spirit Honda car with Registration Number KWL 211 JM, Lagos.

The second officer, who received the highest beaten from the mob, was said to have come to intervene in the matter when his colleague was being attacked.

CityMirrorNews gathered that the O’Tram officer arrested the woman from popular Ola-Iya junction in Osogbo for allegedly flouting traffic rules.

The woman allegedly refused to stop the car and instead drove away with the O’Tram officer sitting at the front of the car.

When the officer discovered she was heading towards Oke-Ifa, he allegedly dragged the steering with the woman to force her stop the car.

CityMirrorNews learnt that woman had made a call to her husband, telling him that the officer was beating her inside the car.

When the car was forced to stop at the Salvation Army Middle School, the woman raised alarm that the officer was beating her, a development that attracted sympathy from people around the area.

It was gathered that the husband allegedly came to the scene with some ‘boys’ who allegedly joined the people around the area to descend on the O’Tram officer.

While the officer was being beaten, his colleague who was trailing the car ran into the mob and he was also attacked, giving way to the former to flee the scene.

It took the intervention of Muslims who were going to Jumat Prayer at the Islahudeen Central Mosque to rescue the officer from the mob before the arrival of the police.

The woman’s husband also contacted some policemen who came to the scene in mufti with a while Hilux vehicle with which the beaten officer and his other colleagues were carried away.

CityMirrorNews noted that people are the scene were hostile to the O’Tram, accusing them of excesses and uncivilized behavior.

Nobody was sympathetic to the beaten officer or support the activities of the men of the O’ Tram. Instead, the people said the beaten served them right.
