Osun Utd 2-1 My People FC; Omoyele, Obasi Fires Omoluabi Giants To Crucial Win
Two first half goals from Tosin Omoyele and Chigozie Obasi, was all Osun United needed to secure a crucial 2-1 win over relegation threatened My People FC on Saturday at the Oshogbo Township Stadium.
Osun United made the better attacking forays of the pulsating encounter and were rewarded with a 17th minute penalty after Idowu Bayo, handled the ball in the box from Chinedu Emmanuel, cross but My People goalkeeper James Faith, saved the spot kick played by Victor Okeji.
Omoyele helped the Omoluabi Giants with the breakthrough they needed in the 30th minute as he whipped in a half-volley from Obasi low cross.
Omoyele’s strike was his 11th goal of the season.
There was almost an instant response from My People with Chukwuma Chigozie, tormenting Osun United backline with his power, pace and dribbling skills but his antics were curtailed.
Obasi doubled their lead in the 43rd minute off a sublime free-kick to end the first half 2-0.
A tactical second half from the TB Joshua Boys saw them gain some sort of foothold in the game after the hour mark, and were rewarded with a consolatory goal from Chukwuma in the 62nd minute.
Omoyele had a glorious chance 20 minutes from time when picked out by a pass from Okeji, only to miss a sitter.
My People also had the chance to earn a share of the spoils but Princewill Ekwem lost a gilt-edged chance that came his way.
Osun United have garnered thirty-six (36) points from twenty-four (24) matches and will be guest to Ikorodu United next weekend at the Teslim Balogun Stadium, Lagos.
