Police Arrest, Prosecute 129 Traffic Law Offenders in Osun
The Osun Police Command said it had arrested and prosecuted 129 motorists, through the police mobile court, for violating various traffic laws in the state.
Mr Olafimihan Adeoye, Osun Police Commissioner made this known while speaking with newsmen at the state force command in Osogbo.
Adeoye said arrests and prosecution of road traffic laws offenders, though the mobile courts, took effect from Feb. 7, and that within its short operation, 142 offenders had been apprehended and tried.
“A total of 142 traffic law violators were arrested by the police and prosecuted by the police mobile courts, setup in collaboration with the state judiciary.
“Out of the offenders apprehended, 129 were fine for their offences while the remaining 13 were cautioned and discharged.” he said
Adeoye however said the statistic was just for traffic law offenders arrested within the state capital, Osogbo and that the mobile court operation would be extended to other local government areas in the state.
It would be recalled that the Osun Police Command on Feb.14, announced that it had setup a mobile court to prosecute motorists arrested for violating traffic laws in the state
