Gang Leader of My Kidnappers Asked Me To Pray For Him to Quit The Job – Freed Ondo Monarch

The abducted Oniyani of Iyani-Akoko in Akoko North West Local Government Area of Ondo State, Oba Joel Sunday Daudu who recently regained his freedom from the hands of the kidnappers has narrated his ordeal in the hands of his captors.
Oba Daudu said: “We drank water from ponds where cattle drink while we slept on rocks and were made to trek long distance during our captivity.”

The traditional ruler, who is the Secretary of Akoko North West Traditional Council, disclosed that the incident happened at exactly 4.30 pm on Sunday.

said that he left his home town at 4.00pm on Sunday on his way to Akure when they suddenly ran to the abductors at a spot in Oba Akoko.

According to him, the abductors whom he first thought were armed robbers were shooting at close range and was forced to stop, but one of the young men shot the tyre of his car and dragged him and a chief who was on the wheels at the time into the bush.

The monarch disclosed that the men who were looking haggard marched them into the bush.

The Oniyani, who said they kept moving all the four days of their captivity, added that sometimes they sat on rocks whenever their abductors wanted to rest.

Describing the experience as a bad one, Oba Daudu said it is an experience that he would not want even his enemy to pass through.

He said: “We were in the bush climbing hills and sleeping on top of rocks. It was a bad experience, it was terrible, I don’t want even my enemy to pass through”.

“I did not know there was Easter.”

According to him, he along with his co- abductees interacted a lot with the kidnappers and they disclosed that they were forced to do the job because of the bad economic situation in the country.

“Their leader even asked me to pray for him so that he can quit the job”, he said.

Meanwhile, Oba Daudu called on the federal government to provide adequate security for traditional rulers in the country by attaching security personnel to them for their safety.

Equally, the monarch called for the recruitment of more able bodied Nigerians into the police and also increase the number of police check points on the nation’s highways.

Similarly, the traditional ruler  has also called on parents to see that they instill good morals in their children by giving them religious education and also inculcating discipline in them.

The monarch also thanked the people of Iyani-Akoko his home for their support and prayers during his days in captivity and the  State Governor, Mr. Oluwarotimi Akeredolu and the security outfits in the state for responding promptly to the situation.
