Amidst the payment of modulated salary which was compelled by the financial problem that gripped the state, Osun State government has assured workers in the state of better welfare package as soon as things get better for it financially.

The Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr Adelani Baderinwa gave the assurance while addressing the leaders of the Radio, Television, Theater Arts Workers Union of Nigeria (RATTAWU) in the state at his office on Tuesday.

According to Baderinwa Governor Rauf Aregbesola is appreciative of the sacrifices being made by the workers on the payment of modulated salary, saying that the governor is also determined to make the welfare of the civil servants better than it was before the financial crisis.

Baderinwa said whatever pains the workers are going through, it should be seen as what a state or nation goes through during building and development process, saying that Aregbesola was building Osun and committed to her development.

He maintained that it is on record that Aregbesola is the first and only governor that ever paid 13-month salary to workers before the financial fortune of the state began to dwindle in 2013, adding that the governor is friendly to the civil servants and take their welfare passionately.

The commissioner recalled that Aregbesola did not default in the regular payment of salary before the financial quagmire which was caused by the reckless spending and mismanagement of the country’s resources by the past administration of President Goodluck Jonathan.

In his address, the Chairman of the RATTAWU, Comrade Kehinde Adigun, said the union was supportive of the state government and ready to work with the commissioner for the development of the state.

Adigun called on the state government to implement the agreement on the Implementation of the Reviewed (Increment) Weigh-in-Allowance of 20 % to the members in the state which was signed in 2014.

Responding, Baderinwa promised that the agreement would be implemented as soon as the state finances improve.
