Osun APC Cautions PDP On Misleading Workers Over Salary
The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress APC has cautioned “mischievous politicians especially those in the opposition Peoples Democratic Party PDP to stop deceiving Osun workers by spreading the false idea that the primary obligation of government is to pay workers’ salaries.
In a statement, the party said the primary responsibility of government is not to only pay workers salaries alone, but cater for the welfare of the general populace.
The party through its Director of Publicity, Research and Strategy, Barr Kunle Oyatomi said the idea of the PDP in inciting the public against the government and creating chaos in the society which is not in the interest of government workers.
According to the party, “government has enormous responsibilities to the entire population of Osun; and all of these responsibilities are as important as paying salaries to workers. The difference between a failed and irresponsible government and a successful and responsible one is the ability to manage available or limited resources to satisfy the needs of the greatest possible number of the people from who the government derives its authority and legitimacy to govern.”
The APC said “it has become necessary to put a stop to the ungodly falsehood being circulated by few impressionable people who the PDP has deceived into believing the senseless idea that government exist only to pay workers’ salaries. Nothing could be farther from the truth.”
The APC praised government workers’ perseverance and urged them to understand the important position they occupy within the establishment.
The statement continued, “any political party like the PDP, that attempts to distract or misdirect the civil servants from this fundamental responsibility is an enemy of the people and the state”, such political party must be rejected and prevented from participating in governance in the State of Osun.”
The APC, however said Governor Rauf Aregbesola appreciates and commends the workers for their perseverance as well as their valued contributions to the success of his government.
It also urged the leadership of the state workforce to caution their members as any partisan attitude from them negates the principles of civil service.
“The governor and his government therefore deserve to be acknowledged, not scandalized as some negative people are openly doing in public places”, the APC said.
“They did it with awful consequences in 2003. It certainly won’t happen again in 2018 because Osun has changed beyond the imagination of the PDP and its cohort of hate-filled people”.
