400-Level AAU Student, 3 Others Remanded in Prison Over Armed Robbery

A-400- level student of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko, Ondo state, Olawale Olabisi, (24), and three others students have been remanded in Olokuta prison custody for alleged armed robbery.
The other accused persons included a graduate Ondo state College of Health Technology, Akure, Oluwole Rufus (25), Oluwalowo Olarewaju (26) and Ikwoma Ikechuwku (25).
The accused persons who arraigned before Magistrate Victoria Bob-Manuel today were facing two count-charge of conspiracy and armed robbery.
The accused persons were said to have committed the offence at about 11:30pm at No:14 Temidire Street Ire-Akari Estate, Akure on 20th March, 2017.
According to the charge sheet leveled against them, the accused persons conspired to rob one Akinyemi Hassan of one LG handset valued N20,000, Nokia handset valued N10,000, one Huwei handset valued N18,000, one I pad handset valued N45,000.
Others stolen items recovered from the suspects were one Toyota Corrola Saloon car with Registration number Ondo AKR 95 FW, a cash sum of N34,000 and three UBA ATM card.
The plea of the accused persons who were represented by Mr Olu Daramola was not taken due to the nature of the offences committed.
Police Prosecutor, Inspector Martins Olowofeso told the court that four accused persons have committed punishable offences under sections 6(a)& (b), and 1,2(a)&(b) of the robbery and Firearms (Special Provision Act) Cap Rll Laws of the Federation of Nigeria 2004.
Olofeso prayed the court to remand the four accused persons in prison custody pending the out come of Director of Public Prosecution’s legal advice on the matter.
Delivering her ruling, the Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. Victoria Bob-Manuel, ordered the four accused persons be remanded at Olokuta prison custody pending the out come of DPP advice on the matter.
She adjourned the case till May 8, 2017 for mention.
