It would be an injustice if other group of people in Osun state apart from Ife produce, the governorship candidate for the 2018 governorship election, a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party who is currently a member of the National Assembly, Chief Albert Abiodun Adeogun, has said.
Adeogun who spoke in Osogbo during a chat with newsmen after a consultative meeting with PDP members said that his advocacy was without prejudice to the constitution of the party which must be adhered to religiously.
The Lawmaker from Ife Federal constituency noted that in Osun state, there are four groups namely Oyo, Igbomina, Ijesa and Ife explaining that it was Ife that has never govern Osun state despite its loyalty to the Peoples Democratic Party.
Chief Bisi Akande an Igbomina had governed, ditto Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola  and the incumbent governor, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola. There has not been anybody from Ife. I am not speaking from ethnic angle or being sentimental but that is the truth.
Adeogun stressed that he was happy on the efforts recorded so far on the reconciliation of aggrieved members of the party both locally and nationally who noted, are gradually returning to the party adding that the positive development has been creating anxieties for the ruling party all over the country.
He pleaded with members not to resort to litigations while resolving their internal conflict but quickly added court should be the last resort after all peaceful internal mechanisms have been exploited.
Adeogun who is also aspiring to govern the state next year called on the residents of Osun to learn from sad experience of misgovernance by the incumbent governor who he accused of denying workers and pensioners of their rights as regards salaries and other welfare services.
He described as unfortunate the situation whereby Ladoke Akintola University of Technology has been forcibly closed as a result of neglect by the two APC governors of Oyo and Osun adding that the prospects of the innocent students are being gambled with.
“Posterity cannot forgive the APC governments in Oyo and Osun state where the performance of our students in public examinations has become the talk of the other states of the federation.
Definitely, this is not the legacy which late Chief Obafemi Awolowo left behind. The results of our children in NECO and WAEC examinations are pointers to the fact that we are being governed by sadists who incidentally have their children and wards outside the shores of this country,” he added.
