By Abdulrofiu Agboola
In his bid to create a crime free society and provide a safe haven for his subjects, the Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdulrosheed Adewale Akanbi, has announced his determination to introduce a “bounty hunting” as a sustainable means to fight and end all forms of criminality.
He said the decision was taken having painstakingly considered the rudiments that propel the perpetration of immorality in the society.
This was contained in a statement issued by the monarch’s press secretary, Ibrahim Ali in respect to the community’s complaints over incessant armed robbery incidence.
The statement quoted the traditional ruler saying the palace was ready to face squarely any strategy or plan that would help in mitigating the criminal activities in the ancient town and beyond.
Some residents of the town had earlier visited the palace in their numbers to exhibit their ordeals as regards robbery incident in the community.
The concerned residents according to the statement alleged that some unknown miscreants have clandestinely destroyed both completed and uncompleted buildings in some parts of the town so as to gain a leadway to their criminal act.
The statement reads in parts: “I have been duly informed of the anti-social activities in some parts of this town and as a traditional institution, I will not open my eyes tolerating any form of immorality as well as social vices.
“The palace has resolved to introduce machination of ‘bounty’ for whoever has
useful information and guides on how to clampdown criminality and as well uproot all forms of social vices.
“I am ready to reward anyone with genuine information about whereabouts of those victimising our people and their properties as part of our efforts to sanitise our society and enhance peaceful cohabitation between and among our people.
“As we are focused to partner with government and other security agencies to unravel crimes and criminalities, the palace would not hesitate to expose the perpetrators”.
“On the recent attacks, I have directed the victims to intimate with government and security agencies most especially the police for improved security surveillance.
“I believe firmly that informing the police will expedite necessary clandestine investigation to unveil the crooks behind the crime”.
