By Fatai Akanji
A medical student of the Osun State University (UNIOSUN), Miss Oyeleye Lateefat Abiola has emerged the overall best of all the 546 final year Medical students of V.N. Karazin Kharkiv National University, Ukraine.
Abiola is among the 85 medical students of UNIOSUN sponsored in 2012 to complete their Medical studies at the V.N. Karazin Kharkiv National University, one of the oldest universities in Eastern Europe, by Governor Rauf Aregbesola’s administration.
A statement by the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr Adelani Baderinwa on Sunday said 50 of the 85 students, including Abiola, have become Medical Doctors after they all passed the Krok 2 Exams.
Abiola led other students in the exam with 95.9 per cent.
Baderinwa said all the 50 UNIOSUN students who wrote the exams of the entire 546 Medical students presented by V.N. Karazin Kharkiv National University for the final medical school exams passed from the result released earlier on Sunday.
The students will have their convocation on June 30, said Baderinwa.
He recalled that the students who gained admission into UNIOSUN in 2007 would have had their ambition of becoming medical doctor cut short because of the non availability of medical school to further their education, but for Aregbesola’s ingenuity to send them to medical school in Ukraine.
Baderinwa who congratulated the medical students on behalf of the state government, said Aregbesola has offered assistance to procure visas for the parents who are willing to attend the convocation of the 50 students.
He said the remaining 35 final set of the UNIOSUN Medical students would graduate in May 2018.
According to Baderinwa, the V.N. Karazin Kharkiv National University was just rated among the best Eastern Europe classical universities and is known in many countries, disclosing that the University has graduated over 130,000 students.
Baderinwa said Kharkiv University is the only university in Ukraine that has produced three Nobel Prize laureates.
He congratulated the students on their success, saying they have done the state proud and showcasing the promotion of functional education which is the part of the six integral action plan of Aregbesola.
The commissioner said: “The state government, led by Governor Rauf Aregbesola and the good people of the state felicitate with the students and their parents of the medical students that are graduating on the 30th of June, 2017.
“To further show his support for the students, the governor has offered to assist with procurement of visas for the parents willing to grace the occasion.”
