Senate: 2017 Budget To Be Passed Next Week
As the 2016 budget implementation lifespan expires tomorrow, the Nigerian Senate leader, Ahmed Lawan has disclosed that the one of 2017 which has been in the works would be ready for debate on Tuesday next week.
Speaking through order 42, the leader noted that both the upper and lower legislative chambers were conscious of time contingencies, hence, both committees were meeting to harmonise figures in readiness for the chamber’s debate.
“Mr President, distinguished colleagues, as I speak, Senate Committee on Appropriations is currently meeting with that of the House of Representatives on the 2017 budget,” he maintained.
Responding, Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu assured Nigeria that the lawmakers were aware of the expiration of 2016 for tomorrow.
He added that 2017 budget would be passed without hiccups, noting that Nigerians should be patient.
