Breaking: Court Denies Dasuki Time To Refresh His Memory On N400m Transaction With Metuh
Federal High Court on Friday declined to suspend the trial of former National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party, Chief Olisa Metuh to allow ex-National Security Adviser, Sambo Dasuki to refresh his memory before testifying.
The former NSA had on Wednesday insisted that he could not remember whether or not he approved the payment of N400million from account of the office of the NSA to the former PDP spokesperson.
He had prayed for time to allow him have access to his documents before he could testify as a defense witness.
Against this backdrop, Metuh’s lawyer, Emeka Etiaba, had urged the court for an adjournment of the trial to enable Dasuki have access to his records.
Ruling on Friday, Justice Okon Abang dismissed the request on the grounds that it lacks merit.
The trial judge said he could not adjourn the trial because the documents Dasuki intends to consult are not administered as evidence before the court
Justice Abang said he had watched Dasuki’s demeanour in the witness box, saying he appeared “composed and relaxed”
“This application for adjournment lacks merit, same is accordingly refused,” Justice Abang held.
Following this ruling, Justice Abang ordered Dasuki into the witness box.
