Two Feared Dead In Ipetumodu/Asipa Communal Clash In Osun
The communal clash between Asipa and Ipetumodu communities in Ife-North Local Government Area of Osun State might have claimed two lives, CityMirrorNews learnt.
The medium learnt that fresh violence erupted the two communities on Saturday evening as some hoodlums stormed the Akinola Market of Ipetumodu and razed it.
It was learnt that the hoodlums shot sporadically in the market area and two persons who were reportedly hit by the bullet were feared dead.
The Asalu of Ipetumodu, Chief Afolabi Adedeji said a palm wine tapper was allegedly killed on Saturday evening by the people of Asipa.
Chief Julius Ojerinde, the Asalu of Asipa community could not be reached on phone when called.
But Ojerinde had on Friday accused the people of Ipetumodu of first attacking the Asipa community because the White Paper issued by the panel of inquiry set up by the state government into the 2015 clash did not favour their town.
Ojerinde claimed that the people of Ipetumodu shot three indigenes of Asipa during the fight which erupted on Thursday night.
The Osun State Police Command had on Saturday, said some suspects had been arrested in connection with the clash, just as Osun State Government said the clash was a breach of public peace and not an inter-ethnic crisis.
