Police Parade 14 Murder, Armed Robbery Suspects in Osogbo

The Osun State Police Command on Saturday paraded 14 suspected criminals in Osogbo on armed robbery, murder, issuance of fake vehicle documents and number plates allegations.

Parading the suspects before newsmen in Osogbo, the State capital, the state Commissioner of Police, Mr Olafimihan Adeoye said the suspects were arrested between February and March this year.

Adeoye said seven of the suspects armed with gun and other dangerous weapons, on February 3, at about 3pm, stormed a hostel occupied by students of College of Education, Ilesa, and robbed them of their valuables.

The suspected armed robbers according to the Adeoye are; Johnson  Friday (25), Oyedele Olorunfemi (27), Johnson Happy (25), Adekanmi Michael (23), Destiny Palmer (25), Yoju Hassrup (27) and Adesola Busari (22).

Enumerating some of the exhibits recovered from them, the Police boss said one cut-to-size locally made single barrel gun, two live cartriges, two Bajaj boxer motorcycle, one plasma television, one HP Mini Laptop, one Startime Decoder, one Itel Phone among other items were found in their possession.

Other items suspected to be stolen by the suspects are; two face cap, three pieces of knickers, five pair of shirts, three polo shirt, nine pieces of foot wears, nine pieces of foot wears,  among others.

He said four additional suspects who connived with some earlier arrested suspects that specialized in hijacking and stealing fuel tankers and it’s content were equally arrested in furtherance of the investigation on the matter.

The suspected tanker snatchers are; Akinmosin Adeyemi Jude (23), Goddey Daniel (37), Kehinde Alabi (47) and Aremu Oke Wakeel (45). Alabi and Wakeel were both alleged to have been receiving the stolen diesel and PMS

The suspects were said to have hijacked a diesel laden tanker drove by one Musa Muhammed, from Old market area, Aboji, after he was being overpowered at Ife-Ilesa express way before the truck was drove away to an unknown destination.

He said two individuals who specialized in producing fake Osun vehicle documents and number plates from Ibadan, Oyo State, were also arrested on complaints from an official of Osun Ministry of Transportation.

Adeoye said one Gideon Segun, 30, was also arrested for killing an 82 year old man, by hitting him with firewood on the head, which injuries later resulted to his death.

He said the old man the suspect killed was his grandfather in-law, disclosing that the suspect and the deceased had been having a running misunderstanding.

Adeoye said those arrested would be charged to court after the conclusion of investigations and that the police was on the trail of others involved or connected to those arrested on the allegations.
