PDP Chieftains Advise INEC To Modify Registration Exercise

Chieftains of the Peoples Democratic Party in Oyo zone have advised the officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to modify the registration of prospective voters in view of the hardship being experienced in the present arrangement which might frustrate many people.
The trio of Chief Sunday Ogunlade, a zonal leader and former South West treasurer, Prince Akeem Olukitibi, Chief Oyewo Olaniyi both Chairmen in Oyo West and Afijio local governments gave the advice on Wednesday at Jobele during the inauguration of PDP interim committee members for Afijio and Oyo West local governments.
Those inaugurated by Barrister Abiodun Babatunde Badmus, the party’s legal adviser are Messrs Olaniyan Gbenga,Taiwo Abimbola, Mrs Owoade Folake, Mr.Oladokun Sunday, Omotaje Samuel Awokunle J, as members for Afijio, and Messrs Sarafa Baale, Oladotun Emmanuel, Akinwale Kayode, Dauda Salawu, Seki Segun and Alhaja Adijat Mufutau as members for Oyo West PDP interim management committee.
Chief Ogunlade who spoke after the inauguration of the officers appealed to INEC to consider the stress which people were passing through before they could register at local government council headquarters which could be many kilometers from the villages and towns within the local governments.
Ogunlade urged members of the party to be hopeful in the verdict being expected to terminate the leadership of Alhaji Ali Modu Sheriff which he alleged was being used by the ruling party.
The party leader disclosed that in the court mistakenly declaring Sherriff winner in the legal battle, the party leaders had an option two, adding that Sherrif had the ambition to frustrate all true members of the party if he failed to achieve his inordinate ambition.
He was of the view that the administration of APC had nothing to record as achievements, stressing that the spokesman of the party had consistently been laying claim to the achievements of the present government.
Prince Olukitibi, one of the chairmen called on all party leaders to have a new orientation to leadership adding that they should carry the youth along in all their activities.
He condemned the APC administration for treating the welfare of the masses with levity, pointing out that all achievements being referred to were mere deceit as the masses had been impoverished but they keep promising to make lives better while they and their cliques were enjoying the nation’s resources.
The legal adviser of the party, Badmus admonished all the party stake holders in the zone to eschew hooliganism, pointing out that politics of bitterness should be consigned to the dustbin.
