Osun Govt Dismisses Fresh Communal Crisis Report in Ile-Ife
Osun State government has dismissed report of fresh communal crisis in Ile-Ife, as reported by some media organizations.
The state government said what the media called crisis is a breach of peace by some young people in Asipa and Ipetumdu area of Ife-North Local government of the state on Friday.
Special Adviser to Governor Rauf Aregbesola on Security, Mr Tope Adejumo stated this today while speaking with newsmen.
According to Adejumo, some youths in Asipa and Ipetumodu had earlier on Friday afternoon engaged each other in a free fall over some boundary dispute and that nobody was killed.
Adejumo maintained that it was not inter-ethnic clash, neither was it a crisis but a case of ‘breach of public peace’ which was being resolved.
He noted that normalcy has since returned to both towns and law enforcement agencies have been deployed to the area to maintain peace and order.
The SA said it was untrue that there was fresh crisis in Ile-Ife, urging members of the public to ignore the news.
Adejumo submitted that everybody in Ile-Ife was going about his/her business particularly at the Sabo Area.
