PDP Chairmanship: Omisore faction endorses Dokpesi in Osun —–he is coming back – Adagunodo faction

The Chairmanship Aspirant of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and Chairman of DAAR Communications, High Chief Raymond Aleogho Dokpesi, on Saturday, took his campaign to Osogbo, Osun state capital.

Dokpesi who visited the party Secretariat of PDP at Ogo-Oluwa Area, Osogbo, declared that Senator Iyiola Omisore, is the only leader he recognized in Osun state.

But, the faction led by Hon Soji Adagunodo, said Dokpesi is coming back to Osun because he was coming to meet him when he was hijacked.

Speaking on the crisis within the party, Dokpesi insisted that he recognized Ahmed Makarfi-led PDP as the leader of the party.

Meanwhile, when he was told that hundreds of PDP supporters in the camp of Hon Soji Adagunodo have been waiting for him at the factional secretariat in the town, Dokpesi said “whoever belongs to PDP in Osun state should be here.

“I’m here to seek your approval and endorsement to become the National Chairman of PDP. With the tremendous support of Senator Omisore, we will rebuild the PDP in Osun state.

“I promise you that if I become chairman of PDP, I will come and lead campaign and we will reclaim Osun for PDP in 2018.

Earlier, the Chairman of Omisore’s camp, Dr Bayo Faforiji, assured the Chairmanship hopeful of total support during the voting.

He commended Dokpesi for touring the state round, saying such step would enable him to know how best to handle the party as expected.

“We know that you are capable. We have a lot of crisis in PDP, I’m sure of your capability to handle the situation.

Speaking with our correspondent after Dokpesi had left the state, Adagunodo described what transpired as politics, insisting that the PDP Chairmanship aspirant will come back to the state.

Adagunodo who said he had listened to the interview granted by Dokpesi, described his statement as laughable.

“It is laughable. He is an highly respected personality in our party. If he knows that he didn’t recognize me, he shouldn’t have sent a letter to me, addressing me as the Chairman of the party.

“He wouldn’t have called Makarfi committee to find out who is the authentic chairman in Osun state and they told him that Soji Adagunodo is the authentic Chairman.

“He wouldn’t have called me three times in the midnight, making arrangement with me. He called me at 12.37, 1.O’clock and 1.15 a.m.

“Apart from that, his private secretary, Mrs Olori, sent a text message to me and email. The message she sent reads: “Dear Sir, I’m from High Chief Raymond Dokpesi. This is a reminder that he will be visiting the state PDP on Saturday, pls confirm”.

Another one reads: “Good Morning sir. This is a quick reminder that Chief Raymond Dokpesi will be in your state PDP secretariat tomorrow as part of campaign tour.

Showing our correspondent the letter sent to him, Adagunodo said “if you follow him by the time he was coming, he was hijacked on the road. He wasn’t really going to that place.

“I am bold to say it that 80 per cent of the vote in Osun will come from this secretariat. I assure you that he will come back,” Adagunodo stated.
