There is currently anxiety in Okposi community in Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area of Rivers State following the murder of Chief Lucky Ajie.
It was learnt that some unidentified gunmen on Thursday invaded the community and killed the victim, Ajie, causing panic in the area.
A community source, who related this development to Saturday PUNCH on condition of anonymity, said Ajie was trailed from the hotel and shot dead in front of his compound by the assailants.
Confirming the development, the former Chief of Staff of ONELGA, Mr. Chijioke Ejebide, condemned the killing, describing it as senseless.
Ejebide, who visited the scene of the incident and family members of the deceased, said the people of the area regretted the murder.
He questioned the killing of the PDP chieftain in such a manner, stressing that those who committed the act would not go unpunished.
He, however, called on the police and other security outfits to investigate the murder and bring the killers to book.

“I call on security operatives to investigate this killing and punish the people behind this act. The killers of Ajie will not go unpunished.”
When contacted, the Assistant Public Relations Officer of the Rivers State Police Command, Mr. Grace Koko, said the police were aware of the development.
Koko added that the police had commenced investigation into the killing with a view to apprehending the culprits.
“We are aware of the killing and we are on it. Investigations are in progress to find the killers,” she said.
