Osun State government has sounded a notice of warning to one Dr. Olapade Agoro of Olapade Agoro Estate, Ibadan to stop parading himself as the Atapami of Itapa-Ijesa in Osun State.

In a letter dated August 19, 2016 and was signed by Mr. Femi Ogundun for the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy, Water Resources, Rural and Community Affairs insisted that there is no chieftaincy title called Atapami of Itapa-Ijesa.

Government submitted that following due consideration of his letter and series of other correspondence petitions received from the chambers of the Elerinmo-in-Council, indigenes and non-indigene of Erinmo community, Erinmo Ijesa Elders Forum and erudite legal practitioners, it is obvious that there is no chieftaincy title called Atapami of Itapa-Ijesa.

“Atapami of Itapa-Ijesa is nonexistent and you should stop parading yourself as a holder of a nonexistent title as this runs contrary to section 21 sub – sections 3(9) and (b) of the chief’s law, cap. 25, laws of the state of Osun, 2012”

Confirming earlier correspondence to Dr. Agoro, the letter stated “This reaffirms the piece of advice earlier conveyed to your good self vide our letter CD. 9/19/volume.111/555 of 20th, November, 2006.”

Osun government warned Agoro to stop disturbing the peace of Erinmo-Ijesa and other communities of the state.

“You are to stop disturbing the peace of Erinmo-Ijesa and other communities of the state. The security agencies have been requested to ensure that you do not engage in any activity that would threaten the prevailing peace in Erinmo-Ijesa and it’s environ and to also ensure that you stop parading yourself as Oba”

In a terse conclusion, government emphatically told Dr. Agoro that the letter serves as the final warning of government to him.
