Buhari Appoints Ibrahim Kpotum Idris As Nigeria’s Inspector General Of Police

President Muhammadu Buhari will announce a former Kano State Police Commissioner, Ibrahim Kpotun Idris as the new acting Inspector General of Police. Mr. Idris is an Assistant Inspector General of Police who once led the Kano state police command.

Hon. Abosede Afolabi Kasumu Ogo-Oluwakitan, a former House of Representatives candidate and current aspirant for the Osogbo, Orolu, Irepodun, and Olorunda Federal Constituency seat, has empowered over 400 widows across the four local governments that make up Osogbo federal constituency. The empowerment programme, held on Thursday at Ogo Oluwa in Osogbo, provided financial support to 100 widows each from Orolu, Irepodun, Osogbo, and Olorunda local government areas. Each beneficiary received the sum of ₦20,000 to support their small-scale business ventures and enhance their livelihoods. The initiative formed part of Abosede’s ongoing philanthropic projects aimed at uplifting vulnerable people and promoting economic independence among women. Speaking at the programme themed "Let The Widows Smiles Again", Hon. Abosede reaffirmed her commitment to human capital development, stressing that the empowerment initiative was designed to provide widows with the means of livelihood and to be self-reliant. “No matter how small you receive, they can start a little business with it. I urge you not to be lazy despite your circumstances. This is to encourage self-reliant and sustainable living.” she said. Hon Abosede further disclosed plans to extend similar support to widowers and persons with disabilities in the coming months, noting that her vision goes beyond politics, but for the transformation of lives within her constituency. The event also witnessed the unveiling of her new constituency office named Ogo-Oluwakitan Place, located at Ogo Oluwa area , a move she described as “a hub for effective representation, engagement, and accessibility to the people.” Also speaking, a former lawmaker in Osun State, Hon. Kamil Temitope Oyedele praised Kasumu’s humanitarian efforts, emphasizing that societal development requires collective responsibility. “The government alone cannot do everything,” he noted. “What she is doing today is giving back to the less privileged, and one good turn deserves another.” Echoing a similar views, an APC stalwart, Alao Waheed, commended Abosede's gesture, and also lauded her consistency in community development service. “She has been doing this for many years before now,” Waheed said. “If the Osogbo Federal Constituency can give her support, she will do even more.” Alao declared. On behalf of the beneficiaries, Mrs. Afolabi Alice Olanrewaju, President of O’ Widow, expressed heartfelt appreciation to Hon. Abosede, pledging the widows’ unwavering support for her political ambition. “We appreciate this initiative and pledge our full support,” she said.
