Kano sacks nine officials over alleged fraud
The Kano State Government has sacked nine officials of the state Ministry for Local Government over alleged fraud.
Similarly, the government has suspended a director with the Ministry of Finance over the same offence.
A statement by Mustapha Fagge, the Public Relations Officer in the office of the Head of Service, on Thursday said that the four officials had been handed over to the police for tampering with pension funds,
According to the statement, the nine affected workers and director were indicted in the report of the committee which investigated salary payments in the state.
The added that the affected officials would be prosecuted for the roles they played in defrauding the government.
The statement explained that four staff of the state pension funds trustees had been handed over to the police for alleged fraudulent activities.
“The perpetrators have been handed over to police while the matter is currently under investigation at the state Public Complaint and Anti-Corruption Commission.”
It said that the Head of Service, Alhaji Muhammad Na’iya, has warned civil servants in the state against fraudulent activities as anyone caught would be sacked.
“It is therefore pertinent to make it abundantly clear that government will not condone fraudulent activities, and will also ensure that all the stolen funds are recovered and culprits punished.”
