Police arrest clerics for beheading two-year-old boy in Osun

Three suspected members of an Islamic sect have been arrested by the Osun State police command for allegedly beheading a two-year-old boy in Iragbiji, the headquarters of Boripe Local Government Area of Osun State.

City Mirror News gathered from reliable source that the sect members, led by one Mosudi Aremu, had been operating a mosque around Oke Mori area of Iragbiji, but they resided in another part of the town.

The suspects, Tajudeen Ganiyu of Aropoko compound, and one Wasiu Danku, led by Aremu, were said to have abducted the boy at Agbelekale compound of Iragbiji and murdered him by slicing his throat.

According to one of the sources, the suspects subsequently severed the boy’s head from the body.

However, the suspects were not caught while perpetrating the act, but their deed was exposed when someone who recorded the act with mobile phone handed the recordings to some people.

Speaking to journalists on the development, a resident of Otapete area where the leader of the sect lives, who pleaded anonymity, said “no one knew who recorded them but people have been suspecting their activities around here.

“Not long ago, Mosudi Aremu, their leader, was expelled by his Islamic sect and he subsequently started his own sect and has been leading them since then.”

Meanwhile, a top security source said the suspects had owned up to the crime at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID).

When contacted, the Osun State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Folashade Odoro, confirmed the development, saying the suspects were already at the SCID, just as she promised to give more details over the incident.
