Ondo Conducts Mass Burial For 497 Unclaimed Corpses
The Ondo State Government has conducted a mass burial for 496 unclaimed corpses at its morgues at the Akure and Ondo complexes of the University of Medical Science Teaching Hospital (UNIMEDTH).
The Special Adviser (SA) to the Governor on Health, Prof Dayo Faduyile, in a statement yesterday, explained that the move was to decongest the morgues after an assessment tour of both hospitals.
Faduyile said he was taken aback at the gory state at the morgues, which made him present a memo on the need to decongest and rehabilitate them.
He added that the mass burial was to avoid outbreak of epidemic diseases in the state, noting that due processes were put in place for quality and hitch-free burial activities.
