UNIMED Urges Students To Utilize Digital Tech For Better Healthcare
The University of Medical Sciences (UNIMED), Ondo State, has highlighted the potential of digital technology to transform Nigeria’s healthcare delivery.
This was disclosed on Thursday at the induction of graduands of the Department of Medical Laboratory Science at the Odosida Campus of the University.
Speaking, Professor Evarista Osime of the Department of Medical Laboratory Science, University of Benin, emphasized on the benefits of digital technology benefits.
“…digital technology can facilitate access to services, the personalization and humanization of treatments and increase the efficiency of services and patient satisfaction”. the lecturer said.
She added that embracing digital technology in healthcare delivery became a reality nobody could avoid any longer during the COVID-19 pandemic.
“The COVID- 19 pandemic was a major disruption for Clinical Laboratories that highlighted the necessity of digital transformation and its acceleration. This digital maturity requires establishing connectivity, end- to-end workflow and advanced analytical technologies and techniques”. she added.
The Vice-Chancellor of the University, Professor Adesegun Fatusi, represented by the Chairman, Committee of Deans, Professor Ezekiel Adebayo aligned his thoughts with the guest lecturer by saying “digital technology cannot be ignored in healthcare delivery. It is the way to go, if the nation wants to deliver the best healthcare”.
A total of 51 Medical Laboratory Scientists were inducted into the profession.
