Veteran Educationist, Prof Olagoke Advocates Functional Education

Former Dean School of Engineering,Federal Polytechnic Ilaro in Ogun State, Professor Sabit Ariyo Olagoke JP, has advocated a functional education for national reliance pointing out that there are lapses in our present educational system.

Professor Olagoke who is also the President of Ajagun Esin Consultative Forum, Religion Warlord made the recommendation in Ibadan while speaking during the Turbanning convocation at the International Headquarters of Shafaudeen in Islam Worldwide.

Speaking on “Promote functional for National Reliance,the former Chief lecturer said that our education policy was not geared towards relevant needs.
The lecture was part of 2021 Ishrat which would be concluded next week.

He submitted that the goals of our education has been apparently defeated adding that this explained why square pegs were put in round holes with poor productivity at the end.

Professor Olagoke noted that people with relevant educational background should be rightly appointed to where they would be useful to the society stressing that political consideration should be minimised or jettisoned in giving out appointment

He reminded the parents to make the informal education very holistic and should include sex education to enable the youths who would later be adult lead fulfilled lives adding that acquisition of knowledge should be to the peak.

Professor Olagoke charged those acquiring knowledge for governance to ensure that they are thoroughbred in order to be assets and not liabilities to their communities.

Other highlights of the programme included Walimot Quaran,Missionary Work Turbanning Convocation,recitation of Quran by the youths while professionals from tertiary institutions would speak on diverse topics in sciences, health,education and book launch would also be included.
