Motorcyclist Remanded Over Alleged Assault, Phone Theft in Osun

A 42-year-old motorcyclist, Kareem Lukman, has been remanded at the Ilesha Correctional Centre over an alleged assault and theft of an iPhone XR valued at ₦300,000.
Lukman was arraigned on Tuesday before an Osogbo Magistrates’ Court on a two-count charge.
The alleged stolen phone, according to Police Prosecutor, Inspector Oluokun Babatunde, belongs to one Oyebode Adenike.
Babatunde, explained that the defendant unlawfully assaulted Adenike on January 26, 2026, at about 12:30 a.m. at Hallelujah Estate Junction, Osogbo.
According to the Prosecutor, the offences committed are contrary to and punishable under Sections 356 and 390(9) of the Criminal Code, Cap 34, Vol. II, Laws of Osun State of Nigeria, 2002.
However, the defendant pleaded not guilty to the allegations slammed against him.
Defense counsel, Barrister Najite Okobe, applied for the bail of the accused person in the most liberal term.
In her ruling, the presiding Magistrate, Olatunji M.A., ordered that the defendant be remanded at the Ilesha Correctional Centre.
The case was adjourned until February 11, 2026, for trial.
