He explained that one of the suspects, 28-year-old Aderemi Sheriff, was apprehended at the scene, while his accomplice fled.

“Upon interrogation, Sheriff reportedly confessed to the crime and admitted to previous involvement in similar offences.

Background checks further revealed that he is an ex-convict with a known record of cable theft” Omoyele noted.

Omoyele also recounted another operation on April 17, 2025, at around 12:03 a.m., during which Amotekun officers received intelligence about an ongoing armed robbery in the Fiwasaye area of Osogbo. One of the suspects, 26-year-old John Uba, was arrested for the theft of mobile phones and other valuables.

“Investigations showed that the suspect had earlier escaped from the Ota-Efun Division of the Nigeria Police Force and is a repeat offender. He has been transferred back to the Ota-Efun Police Division for further investigation and prosecution,” the commander stated.

In a separate incident on April 16, 2025, around 8:00 p.m., the corps arrested 26-year-old Saheed Babatunde for allegedly stealing iron steel materials valued at ₦280,000. The arrest followed a tip-off from a concerned citizen.

“The suspect was traced to his hideout in Isale-Osun, Osogbo, where he was apprehended. He confessed to the theft and admitted selling the items to a buyer identified as a Hausa man for ₦4,000,” Omoyele said. He added that Babatunde is also a known offender who had previously served a jail sentence for a similar crime and would be prosecuted accordingly.

Furthermore, the commander revealed that three other suspects, Idowu Tajudeen (27), Bamanga Joffrey (24), and Femi Adeniyi (22), were arrested on April 18, 2025, around 11:00 a.m., for their alleged involvement in a burglary at GRA, Osogbo. The suspects were said to have unlawfully entered a property and stolen a pumping machine and other items worth approximately ₦8.5 million. All three reportedly confessed to the crime during questioning.

Omoyele confirmed that legal proceedings are ongoing and that the suspects will be prosecuted under the law.

He reaffirmed the corps’ commitment to protecting lives and property across the state.

“The peace and security of Osun State is non-negotiable, we urge residents to remain vigilant and to report any suspicious activity to the Amotekun Corps or other security agencies.” he said.

“Osun Amotekun Corps remains more determined and better equipped to tackle crime. We will not relent until criminal elements are flushed out. Criminals can run, but they cannot hide,” he added.
