Orji Kanu Arraigned In Osun Over Alleged Stealing
The Osun State Police Command has arraigned a 40-year-old man, Orji Uzor Kanu for alleged theft of Prepared meter Card, CityMirror News Report.
Kanu was arraigned On Tuesday before a Magistrate Court sitting in Osogbo, capital of Osun State on a two counts charge bearing on breach of peace and theft of Prepaid card belonging to IBEDC.
Briefing the Court, the Police Prosecutor, ASP Fagboyingbo Abiodun said the defendant committed the offence on September 2nd, 2022 at Awosuru area in Osogbo.
He alleged that the defendant conducts himself in a manner likely to cause breach of peace and fraudulently stole a prepaid Card belonging to IBEDC.
According to him, the offence is contrary to and punishable under Section 390(E) section 249 and Section 390 of the Criminal Code cap 34 Volume ll laws of State of Nigeria 2022.
The defendant pleaded not guilty to the two counts charge.
The defense counsel, Eze Ngwoke urged the court to grant bail to the defendant, while noting that the offences he was charged with were bailable under the law.
The magistrates A.K Ajala in his ruling grant the accused bail in the sum of 50,000.
Ajala said the surety must reside within the court jurisdiction.
He thereafter adjourned the case to January 17, 2023.
