Ife Mayhem: Oluwo Condoles with Ooni, Aregbesola, Calls for Unity
Oluwo of Iwoland, Oba AbdulRasheed Adewale Akanbi, has condoled with Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi over the lives and properties lost to the recent clash that ensued between Hausa and Yoruba communities in the ancient town.
The monarch also commiserated with the state Governor Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola over the ugly incident.
The condolences were contained in a statement issued by the Oluwo’s press secretary, Alli Ibraheem.
It would be recalled that there was confrontation in Ile-Ife between gangs of youth on Wednesday, 8th March, 2017, the development that claimed many lives and properties.
The distasteful development triggered swift response from Oba Ogunwusi and the Osun state government before the matter was laid to rest.
Commending Oba Ogunwusi’s quick intervention, Oluwo said the monarch’s ingenuity on the incident had really helped to quell the crisis.
He lauded Ooni for his prompt technical intervention that nip the crisis in the bud, saying the traditional ruler had demonstrated the attribute of a peaceful leader.
Imploring Nigerians to always tolerate one another, Oluwo described the mayhem as lacked of tolerance.
He commended the security operatives for being proactive on the incident, saying their high level of professionalism had helped to forestall the breakdown of law and other.
“It is with deep sense of grieves that I express my condolences to those who lost their lives and properties to the recent menace that erupted in Ile-Ife.
“I equally commiserate with Ooni of Ife, Oba Enitan Adeyeye Ogunwusi, Governor Rauf Aregbesola and the entire Ifes and the people of Osun over the damages caused by the incident.
“I must also laud Governor Aregbesola’s security policies that quicken actions which later mitigated the incident.
“I so much appreciate their technicality and diplomatic move without offending anyone because their intervention is immeasurable and remarkable.
“Though, lives were loss but their intervention averted an unimaginable damage.
