CAS, Air Marshall Amao, Borno gov, Others Bag Doctorate Degree From Fountain Varsity
The Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshall Oladayo Amao, Borno State Governor, Professor Babagana Zulum along side two others have bagged honorary doctorate degree from Fountain University, Osogbo, Osun State.
Amao and Zulum bagged the doctorate degree in Public Administration while Vice Admiral Jubrila Ayinla bagged honorary doctorate degree in sciences and Head of all traditional chief, Isale Osun, Sulaimon Eniafelamo got degree in Sociology.
The Vice-Chancellor of the institution, Professor Amidu Sanni made the disclosure on Monday during a press briefing to commemorate the 12th convocation ceremony of the institution.
He added that, a total of 240 graduating students will be conferred with their first degree in various disciplines and 19 at the Postgraduate level, stating that “17 bagged First Class, 88 in Second Class Upper, 107 got Second Class Lower, and 28 in Third Class.”
The VC also disclosed that United Nation jointly with National Drug Law Enforcement Agency(NDLEA), National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control(NAFDAC) have partnered the institution to establish Academic Rehabilitation Project to tackle drug abuse in the institution.
He explained that, “substance abuse must be treated like illness. We don’t believe in expelling students who are involved in abuse. When we do this we are creating problem for the society when we expel them. We do conduct drug test here randomly here the parent has paid for it.
“We recommend that all the universities must conduct drug test for their students, we should not pretend about it that it doesn’t exist. Their must be data bank for all universities where we have list of offenders so that when those students move from one varsity to the other they can be identified.”
