Osun: OBA Foundation Distributes Food Packages To Over 22,000 Indigent Citizens
In response to widespread hardship and hunger, the Oluwaseun Basil Alabi (OBA) Foundation has provided food to the residents of Ikire and Apomu in Osun State through its food bank scheme.
On December 27, 2021, the OBA foundation was established, and since then, it has actively distributed aid packages to over 22,000 people in Ikire and their neighbouring communities.
The foundation’s secretary, Mr. Gboyega Bakare, spoke at Thursday’s event and explained that the founder’s intention for the organization was for it to give back to the community.
Bakare declared, “On December 27, 2021, the Oluwaseun Basil Alabi (OBA) foundation was officially established to serve the needs of the elderly, widows, orphans, physically challenged, and less privileged members of its local community.
“Having looked around at the state of society right now, especially with the current poverty rate of the country, we wanted to do something to give back to our immediate environment, so we offer other things like scholarships and youth empowerment.
Since our visionary leader isn’t even in the country, but still sends money every month to ensure that relief packages get to the people who need them, we have no other motivations besides those already mentioned.
“we started out feeding about 500 people in the area, then expanded to about 1500, and now we’re feeding about 2000 people every day. To care for others, we must first ensure the safety of our own tentacles.
During an interview with one of the beneficiary, Mrs. Rebecca Ajimoti, one of the recipients, explained that she is in dire need of the relief supplies because she lost her husband at a young age.
“Not only did I lose my husband at a young age, but I also misplaced my only child of 40 years. Because my husband has abandoned our four kids, I need to stock up on groceries. To the foundation, I express my deepest gratitude,” Ajimoti said.
