Foundation Distributes Educational Materials To Pupils In Osun
Over one hundred indigent children of school age residents of Akola Ijesa in Atakumosa West Local Government, Osun State have benefited from the Fortress Estierem Foundation school intervention programme.
At the Children party held at the Akola Civic Center, Akola Ijesa, the pupils were given books, school bags and school uniform among other incentives.
Declaring the event open, the Alakola of Akola-Ijesa, Oba Dr Festus Adekunle Adeyemi charged the pupils to face their studies and shun all social vices.
Oba Adeyemi called on wealthy Nigerians to always remember indigent children and invest in their education.
Similarly, the mother of the day, Olori Agba Mary Adeyemi thanked the donour and emphasized that “Education is the only legacy that can be bequeathed to our children. In the interest of a secured and prosperous society, we must all try to support the education of young children.”
In her address, the Chief Executive Officer of Fortress Estierem Foundation, Olori Oluremi Adeyemi-Abe said the foundation which had been involved in building young children for years was influenced by desire to give back to the society.
Olori Adeyemi-Abe stated that, care for indigent Children was key to solving the security challenges confronting the Nation, noting that ” if all well to do take interest in the care and education of indigent children, most of the prevalent security challenge bedeviling Nigeria will be averted.”
Fortress Estierem Foundation also sponsored a wellness programme as part of activities to mark the Akola-Ijesa day celebration where hundreds of aged and young adults benefited from free sugar and blood screening as well as free drug distribution for minor ailments.
Also, the Asale Asa ceremony sponsored by the foundation was held at the Civic center,where young girls demonstrated their skills and value for their cultural heritage.
Earlier, a vocational training Programme was held in the community where many young people learnt the production and preservation of many materials that hitherto resulted in waste.
