Kolawole Expresses Sadness Over Oja Tuntun Inferno, Commiserates With Market Men And Women
A front line community leader in Osun State who doubles as the Oluomo of Modakeke, Alhaji Fatai Kolawole has expressed sadness over the fire incident that razed the popular Oja tuntun in the ancient town of Ile-Ife at the wee hours of Wednesday which led to the destruction of many goods that worth millions of naira.
In a press statement made available to CityMirrorNews in his country home, Modakeke area of the State, on Friday, the community leader while commiserating with the affected market men and women whose goods were affected as a result of the inferno said the incessant fire incidents at the age long modern market calls for serious concern by all particularly appropriate community stakeholders.
In his words, Kolawole said, ” there is a need to look into the immediate and remote causes of this perennial fire incident with a view to providing lasting solutions to the constant inferno”
“I could recall that last year, we had this perennial fire incident and within this year 2020 alone, we have recorded three different scenarios, there is a need to put an end to this, we can’t afford to continue this way”
“Maybe there are certain things the market men and women are doing wrongly particularly in terms of their individual energy management which constantly causes the inferno or maybe it is as a result of a power explosion by the electricity provider, all these variables and others must be probed and the necessary solution must be provided because the devastation of the inferno on the local economy is unimaginable beside reaping off the many years of investment of the affected market men and women”
“I am deeply touched and condole with the Babaloja and Iyaloja on this sad scenario”
“I want to appeal to the council leadership of Ife Central government to take necessary bold steps and ensure that relevant government agencies are adequately briefed to provide necessary succor for the victims, the statement concluded.
