Owo Poly Sets To Resume Friday

Students of Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Owo, Ondo State, (RUGIPO) have been charged by the institution’s authority to return to school on Friday, November 6, 2020.

This was contained in a statement made available to journalists in Akure on Wednesday by the Director, Public Relations and Protocol of the institution, Samuel Ojo.

According to Ojo, the reopening was in line with the directive of the government.

He said the first semester, which would commence immediately, was approved by the polytechnic’s Board of Studies having revised the 2019/2020 academic calendar.

According to the statement, the online matriculation of fresh students would take place in the first week of the resumption.

It was also revealed that the first semester would come to an end by December 24, 2020 when the semester examinations would have been concluded.

The second semester of the 2019/2020 academic session was billed to commence on January 3, 2021, while semester examinations for all categories of students would conclude on March 26, 2021.

All students are expected to comply with the COVID-19 protocol to avoid spread of the pandemic.

The statement reads in parts: “All students are to note that lectures will commence on Monday, 9th November, 2020 and are also advised to adhere strictly to the COVID-19 protocols upon their resumption which include maintenance of social distancing, regular hand washing and hand sanitising.

“The students are to note that they are to come to the campus with their face masks and pocket-size hand sanitizers for their personal use. “The intent of the above is to intimate all the students for their compliance.”
