Ondo Election: Abraham Wants Court to Stop Akeredolu’s Candidature
Barely a month to the November 26, 2016 governorship election in Ondo State, Mr Olusegun Abraham, a gubernatorial aspirant of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has approached court to challenge the candidature of emergence of Rotimi Akeredolu as the winner of the party’s primaries.
Abraham has filed an application at an Abuja division of the Federal High Court being presided over by Justice Nnamdi Dimgba, praying the court to stop the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) from presenting Akeredolu as the APC’s candidate in the election.
Abraham who came second in the party’s primaries claimed he was the actual winner of the primaries and not Akeredolu.
He asked the court to prevent what he described as an ‘irreparable damage’ that may result from fronting Akeredolu as the APC flagbearer.
The court is to consider arguments from the respondents and to take a stand on the matter tomorrow.
