By Steve Oni, Ilorin
The Kwara State Technical Committee on COVID-19 has donated face masks to journalists in the state to protect them against the dreaded Coronavirus as they carry out their daily activities.
Chief Press Secretary to the Kwara State Governor and Spokesman for the committee Rafiu Ajakaye delivered the face masks to the journalists on Monday in Ilorin.
The CPS commended his colleagues in the pen profession for the support the government and the committee have been receiving from them in the fight against the pandemic.
“I want to thank my colleagues for their support; we have enjoyed a robust relationship so far, including at this extraordinary moment,” Ajakaye said.
“I hope to see us extend this relationship beyond the fight against COVID-19.
“I appeal to you all to please accept it as another support from the government at this trying time.
“I urge our colleagues to please continue to adhere strictly to all the safety protocols rolled out by the Federal Government, the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC)and the state government.”
Ajakaye appealed to the people of the state to take personal hygiene seriously by washing their hands regularly, using hand sanitiser, wearing face masks in the public, and restricting their movement to only essential routines.
He said the fight against the novel virus is a collective responsibility which must not be left for the government alone.
