FG Commends Gov Oyetola Over Ongoing Roads Construction
The Federal Government has commended Governor Gboyega Oyetola of Osun State over construction of roads.
The Minister of State for Works and Housing, Engr Abubakar Aliyu gave the commendation when he paid a working visit to Osun State.
The Minister who had earlier inspected the ongoing Gbongan/Akoda road project expressed satisfaction over the ongoing federal roads constructions undertaking by the State Government of Osun across the state.
He noted that going by what he saw, Osun has done tremendously well with the way the works are being handled.
Aliyu, who stated the commitment of the President Muhammadu Buhari-led Federal Government to improve road infrastructures across the country, said over five hundred road constructions are ongoing in the country.
“We’re here to verify Federal Government Works undergone or undergoing by State of Osun. The Federal Ministry of Works and Housing recently inaugurated a committee headed by the Minister of Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola to verify FG’s projects undertaken by state governments.
“We can see that the projects in Osun are ongoing and I can express satisfaction with the way the works are being handled.
“I saw a well constructed bridge at Gbongan and so far, with what I have seen, I think the state deserves commendations.
“Let me state here that the Buhari’s administration is committed to improving road infrastructures across the country and that’s evident in the budgetary allocation to roads since the president came on board in 2015.
“2020 budget prioritizes construction that are up to 75 to 80% completion. This is so because we are determined to deliver them before the year runs out. By 2021, those below that would have entered that stage and we can deliver them too,” Aliyu said.
Speaking, Governor Gboyega Oyetola commended the minister and his team for coming down to Osun for the inspection.
He said the state is very meticulous and will always ensure that contractors do the best job obtainable.
Oyetola, who commended President Buhari for his commitment to improve nation’s infrastructure, called for alternative funding for road projects.
The governor assured the FG that even though he inherited those construction projects, he’s committed to complete them for the benefit of the people of the state.
Oyetola also called on the Federal Ministry of Works to continually support the state as his administration continues to turn around its fortunes for better.
While giving a vote of thanks, the Commissioner for Works and Transport, Engr Oluremi Omowaiye appreciated the Minister for acknowledging the good works done so far on the roads.
Omowaiye expressed the readiness of Osun State Government under the leadership of Governor Gboyega Oyetola to ensure that contractors handling those roads do a quality job.
