Ogun Community Cries Out Over 6years Blackout, Urges Gov Amosun to fulfill promises
The residents of Magboro in Owode-Obafemi Local Government Area of Ogun State have groaned over the protracted darkness being experienced by the community in the last six years.
The community who described as ‘unfortunate’ the status of its economic comatose over the years, said the suburb would have developed as proposed if not being hampered by poor electricity supply.
The people of the community who lamented over the great setback caused by the ugly situation, called on the state government and other well-meaning Nigerians to rescue the community from the torment of darkness.
The plea was part of the letter personally signed by Prince Segun Akanni of the community and sent to the state Governor, Ibikunle Amosun through which a copy was made available to newsmen.
The community which is located behind Mountain of Fire Headquarters, along Lagos/Ibadan expressway, decried serious anti-social degradation occasioned by the incident just as it appealed to government to come to its aid before the situation gets out of hands.
The settlers in the community who reminded Governor Amosun of his electioneering campaign promises to the people of the area, said ” we are appealing to you to come to our aids, fulfill your promises by providing at least 15 hours electricity daily and good road”.
The letter reads in parts: “this is to remind the governor of his promises to the people of Magboro in Owode-Obafemi Local Government, just at the back of Mountain of Fire Headquarters.
“Magboro comprises of more that twelve communities, such as Abule-Oko, Magada, Ganhun, Magboro 1, Magboro 1, Ajegunle, Shote, Makogi, Abule-Oba, Ishefu etc but it is unfortunate that as big as the community is, as suffering as it appears.
“Infact a four and half years old child in this community doesn’t know what the popular slogan “UP NEPA” is all about, as we’ve never experienced power since 6 years ago. Our houses have also become Generator sets depots”, they lamented.
The residents of the area who decried over the deplorable state of roads in the community further implored the state to rehabilitate some of the roads linking the community with neighboring towns and cities.
The community recalls: “In 2011 when you came to campaign in Magboro for governorship race, we remembered vividly that you promised to give us good road and stable electricity but nothing has been done up till now.
“In 2015 again, you came around to campaign for second term, you gave us the same promise that our road will be tarred as well giving us stable electricity. All what we benefited from you through First August Construction Company was the half constructed drainage system which contributed negatively to the worst, bad and deplorable situation we never experienced even before the channeling of the so called drainage.
“This same road was reportedly to have been commissioned by your government at the Mountain of Fire axis with less than 100 meters construction of road in 2015.
“We are not asking for too much sir. Just the road and at least 15 hours daily electricity.
