UI Pro-Chancellor, Joshua Waklek Celebrates 70th Birthday, Launches Book

The Pro-Chancellor of Nigeria’s Premier University, the University of Ibadan, UI, Nde Joshua Waklek, on Friday celebrated his 70th birthday in grand style in Jos, the Plateau State capital.
The occasion also witnessed a book launch as part of activities marking the 70th birthday of Waklek. The book was written in the celebrant’s honour.
While speaking at the occassion, the Plateau state Governor, Rt Hon Simon Bako Lalong described Waklek as a father, friend, and humble personality whose sense of compassion and love is worthy of emulation.
While addressing journalists at his residence in Jos, the celebrant thanked God for the grace to clock 70 on earth.
He, however, called on Nigerian leaders who are in positions of authority to initiate policies and programmes that would ameliorate the suffering of common man in the society.
He called on people of the state to live in peace and shun any acts that are capable of disrupting the fragile peace being currently enjoyed in the state.
Waklek said, “the story of my success cannot be separated from hard work, dedication, honesty and dilligence”. He advised youths to be dedicated and work hard in what ever they do.
The celebrant dedicated the book which is his biography to his family who made it possible to become what he is today.
Joshua Waklek was born into the family of Nde Jilang and Nana Maryamu in 27th March, 1949 at Pangpel in Pankshin Local Government Area of Plateau State.
He is well-read and he is a member, National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies, NIPSS, Kuru.
