Osun Cabinets: Exclusion Of Ifon-Orolu From List, Embarrassment To king, Political Class, Entire Indigenes— Group
The Ifon-Orolu Progressive Union has called on the Osun state governor , Mr Adegboyega Oyetola to address the exclusion of Orolu local government indigenes from the cabinet list forwarded to the house on Tuesday for confirmation and approval.
The group reminded the governor of the role and sacrifice made during the rerun leading to his emergence.
They said the only way to compensate the people was by giving them a key political appointment.
Speaking during a press conference, the National publicity secretary, Prince Jide Akinyooye described their exclusion from the list as an embarrassment to the king, political class and the entire people of the Ifon-orolu
He said, “There is no doubt that the people of Ifon-Orolu are great lovers of the governor. We were shocked to discover that none from our local government made the cabinet list forwarded to the house on Tuesday.
It is very sad and a great embarrassment to the entire people of Orolu local government that a government we wholeheartedly supported refused to reciprocate our loyalty.
“We still find it difficult to understand the reason behind this.
“The implication of this is that the Orolu local government will be the only local government without any indigenous representation at the state level both in the legislative and executive arm of government.
“This is very unfortunate and against the provisions of the federal character commission act. For the sake of justice and fairness we trust that the governor will address our exclusion from the list. ”
Also, an elder in Ifon-Orolu ,Sakariha Ibrahim said the people of Ifon-Orolu are not happy about their exclusion from the list.
He said Orolu being one of the biggest in the state should not be denied of political appointment.
Ibrahim urged the governor to make mends by considering the inclusion of Ifon-orolu indigenes in his cabinet list.
