….Calls On Wealthy Nigerians To Support Govt In Educating The Poor

The Orangun of Oke-Ila Orangun, Oba Adedokun Abolarin, Aroyinkeye 1 has stressed on the need for wealthy Nigerians to join government in educating the vulnerable children in the society as a means of fighting poverty.

He said the motivation behind setting up Abolarin College, Oke Ila Orangun where vulnerable children attend for free is based on his love for the poor children and the need to build a better future for the country where poverty will be eliminated.

The monarch stated this while responding to questions from journalists shortly after the monthly council of Obas meeting held at the government secretariat, Abere.

Oba Abolarin stated further that Nigeria as a country must begin to think of the next generation, noting that it is important for wealthy Nigerians to start thinking of the people that will succeed them in future.

The royal father lamented the fact that the country has abandoned the poor for too long, emphasising that it may be difficult for a country that doesn’t care about the welfare of the vulnerable in the society to make progress.

According to the monarch, “if other economies of the world are thinking of the next generation, I think it is also important for us to think of the people that will succeed us, we can’t be here forever. Bola Ige and Chief Obafemi Awolowo are long gone, they contributed so much to education and that’s why we keep talking about them today.

“It is important for us to train innovators of the future, we must begin to creat creators of wealth of the future for our society and we must reproduce sustainers of that future we are talking about.

“For a great future to be guaranteed, education is very key, i am not talking of a one sided education, it is not education for the children of the rich alone, we must think of the poor children also and that’s why I have taken up poor children that I can find around as my own because I want them to enjoy their lives”. He stressed.

Oba Abolarin who noted that he is not into the education of the poor children because he is rich said he has been enjoying the support of wealthy friends and associates who have always contributed in no small measure to what he is doing.

“I am not a rich man, I am not doing this because I am rich, I am just trying to use the platform God has given me to better the lives of the vulnerable children in the society and I thank God for surrounding me with many good people who have been assisting me, so I am not running Abolarin College, Oke-Ila Orangun alone.

“I call on wealthy Nigerians to give back to the society by investing into the education of the poor children in the society, it is for our own good”. The monarch stated.
